After you file
@ vonpowell wrote:Thank you for the reply. You are correct. The rejection messages I am receiving are from Turbo Tax, not the IRS. I have not received any direct messages from the IRS. Is there a place on the IRS site to look for them. And yes, both the 2020 and 2021 files were under "Married Filing Jointly."
The rejection error code may have been in an email (if you received it), and if you used Online TurboTax, you should also see it on the TurboTax screen after selecting Fix my return.
The email notifying you about an efile rejection comes from TurboTax/Intuit; it does not come directly from the IRS. No, it is not on the IRS site. I may have confused you by saying "IRS message" when I meant IRS wording of the rejection.
If you used Online TurboTax, you should see the rejection error code in your account after you click on Fix my return. In addition to the error code, it will have a one-sentence statement about the rejection saying what it means. This is just an example, but it might look something like this:
IND-032-04: The spouse's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year doesn't match IRS records
See this FAQ, which has a video about where you will see the rejection error code and message:

If I understand correctly, you said you have already tried using the same 2020 total AGI for both you and your spouse; i.e., the same total AGI entered for each of you, which is normally the correct approach.
When you do that, if it's being rejected for your Spouse's (secondary filer) 2020 AGI (code IND-032-04), but not yours, then try using the total 2020 AGI for yourself (primary filer), and try AGI of 0 for the spouse. Some users have said that worked for them unexplainedly.
The 2020 AGI is on the 2020 Form 1040, Line 11.
