After you file
TurboTax does not get information back from the IRS regarding your refund amount so you will not see this amount change.
When you are saying the IRS is not giving you your work money back but they are your dependent money even though they said your dependent information is wrong, where did you get this information? Did you get a letter from the IRS stating what was removed from your refund?
Generally, the most cut and dry portion of a refund is the amount you are getting back or owe (as long as you entered your W-2's and everything else correctly) from your job.
If you made $18,000 in 2021 and have one dependent and had $2,000 withheld for taxes, your refund would be $2,000. Your credits (your dependent money) has many variables. Your child or dependent has to qualify and when it comes to the stimulus, many people already received it and forgot it.
You can log back into your return and walk through all the sections to look at your answers to make sure there wasn't a typo. You can also look at your 1040 from this year and compare it to last year to see what would have changed the most. This would point you in the direction to find the errors. The IRS will be sending you a letter explaining what happened and why they made the changes. You can also call the IRS @ 800-829-1040 for answers, but you should be prepared for long hold times.
