Yes, if you amend your return after your original return has been processed and remove a credit that had increased your refund then you will have to pay back the difference.
Please wait until your refund or payment is processed before filing an amended return (1040X). Please be aware that you can e-file your 2021 amended federal tax return, but most states require amendments to be printed and filed by mail.
