Did you use a tracking service from the US Post Office so that you would have proof it was received by the IRS?

That would help, but even in those cases with what is going on at the IRS there is good possibility that it has been lost.  They had millions of 2019 and 2020 paper tax returns stored in trailers they were so far behind.

 

Your only option is to mail another amended return and attach a statement that this is a duplicate of a filed return because the IRS cannot locate the original.
