@xmasbaby0 is correct. We can't see kids, status, income, nothing, Generally, your refund is determined by how much tax you had withheld at work compared to your tax liability. Please take a look at your these key factors on your return:
To view your return,
- If you are using the online version:
- go to Tax Tools,
- then select Tools,
- select View Tax Summary,
- on the left side, select Preview My 1040.
- In the desktop program, switch to forms mode.
Line 15 has your taxable income.
Line 16 is your tax.
Line 24 is your total tax
Line 25 is tax withheld
credits for kids, college, stimulus are in the next lines.
Line 33 is total of payments and credits.
Line 34 is simply a subtraction of line 24 tax from line 33 payments and credits.
If you want a larger refund next year, you should adjust your w4 at work to withhold more taxes. Talk to HR to change your form.
