After you file

Today I updated the turbo tax program for the awaiting new NJ tax forms. On the NJ return, after final review a new message pertaining to correct any entries that need attention. It stated that we were ineligible for e-filing.

The reason is- RETURNS WITH PASS-THROUGH BUSINESS ALTERNATIVE INCOME TAX CREDIT ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ELECTRONIC FILING. These rules are set by NJ Division of Taxation.

We do not own any business or reported any credit. We do not understand any of this and where to look for answers.

Our original federal and state tax returns were electronically filed and accepted. The Turbo Tax program states that we need to file the NJ return by mail. (?) Does this also affect the federal return filing?

Thank you
