A spouse can never be claimed as a dependent on a tax return. So more likely you and your spouse were filing a joint return and you did not understand that. The stimulus checks issued were issued to both of you. Check your online IRS account to see what the IRS shows for you. You cannot get that same stimulus money twice.

The IRS cross checks every return with an amount on line 30, so if you made a mistake the IRS will catch it and reduce your refund by $1400. Expect a delay in processing.
