My last two years tax returns were rejected because I have no copy and therefore have no pin number and wrong AGI. My husband died of COVID in Oct 2020 and I also had it and I desparately need help.
There is no need for a 2018 AGI as the 2019 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it can no longer be e-filed.
To access your prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show. Click on 2019 and Click on Download/print return (PDF)
A 2019 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed.
Print, sign, date and mail the tax return to the IRS. Include with the mailed return any forms W-2 and 1099 which have taxes withheld. Go to this IRS website for mailing addresses - https://www.irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-paper-tax-returns-with-or-without-a-payment
There are no penalties for filing a tax return after the due date if filing for a tax refund or there are no taxes owed.
See this IRS website for how to sign a tax return when the spouse is deceased - https://www.irs.gov/faqs/irs-procedures/signing-the-return/signing-the-return
The 2019 AGI has to be used on the 2020 tax return to e-file the federal return. You can enter any 5 digit number for the PIN.
The 2019 AGI is on the federal tax return, Form 1040 Line 8b
When completing the My info/Personal Info section make sure that you indicate for your spouse that they passed away and the date of passing.
