After you file
@mkelly2 I am confused as to whether you are "sister" or "brother" now since you have used both terms and I do not know which you are. but .... no matter.... If the return was accepted by the IRS then you have to wait and let the IRS process the return. You say it is showing on the IRS site as being processed---so you KNOW they have the return. There is no way to speed them up or "investigate" besides calling the IRS----they do not want phone calls and are overwhelmed by the people calling them about delayed refunds. If you want to spend some hours calling them---you can do that. It will probably result in more frustration. There are literally millions of people waiting for refunds, and many of them have been waiting for more than 3 months. We know it is frustrating-----TurboTax cannot find out anything nor can TT speed them up.
To call the IRS:IRS: 800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Mon-Fri
Listen to each menu before making the selection.
First choose your language. Press 1 for English.
Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions." It should then transfer you to an agent.
