@beatrider77 You should not file an amended California Form 540-X if the dependent is still on there. I do not see a dependent when prepare amended 2018 federal and state returns and remove the dependent.
California does have a question in the the state section: "Do you have a dependent you didn't claim on your federal return?" Try saying NO there and see if that fixes the issue.
If you are using the CD\Desktop program you can also manually delete a dependent from the state form:
- Click on Forms in the upper right
- On the left column, go to California Individual and find Info Worksheet.
- Double click and go down to Part IV - Dependent Information and manually delete any dependent into.
