As noted by DJS you cannot alter your return after it has been accepted by the taxing agencies. You will need to wait for your return to be processed.
In the meantime, a gift is not taxable until or unless you actually earn income from it. You may not need to amend at all.
If you would provide more clarifying information the gift and interview section that you were entering that information and someone may respond with more information specific to your situation.
