A workaround for this error is to return to the My Info section and add your son as your dependent. As you go through the follow-up questions, your answers will result in him NOT being able to be claimed as a dependent. However, it should save his name and SSN as a non-dependent.
You may need to delete the 8962 and generate a new one after you add him as your dependent.
