After you file
When attempting to e-file this year, I entered the correct AGI from a scan of the form I mailed to IRS with the payment check on March 8, 2020. That was rejected as not matching IRS's "records," which is the first I heard about any problem with either my state or Federal return. The check was credited to me on March 13, 2020, and the IRS "account transcript" shows a credit in the same amount--but doesn't show the AGI.
The "enter 0" trick was worthless. I'd prefer to E-file this year, so this doesn't happen again. This is the first year in a decade that I expect to get a refund, and now there's an apparently insoluble problem. My paper return from last year must have been one of the countless returns destroyed or hidden by overwhelmed IRS workers.
