For numerous years, Federal would wind up rejecting my return and make me submit them by mail. The reason given was a problem with one of my dependents. We had adopted our children from foster care, so we thought the bio parent was still trying to claim and causing the problem. Well, it turns out I just discovered why - I screwed up. I transposed two digits on one of my children's ss# and I've done it for years. IRS never explained why and not all years did they reject. When we would mail them in, they were accepted. I only figured this out because of a state tax discrepancy for 4 years ago came up and the state thought they deserved more money.
What do I do?? I've used TurboTax desktop every year. This has happened since 2007!!!
