Tax topic 152 is just general information.
Topic Number 152 - Refund Information Refund TimingThe IRS issues more than 9 out of 10 refunds in the normal time frame: less than 21 days. However, it’s possible that some tax returns may require further review and could take longer.
IRS representatives can research the status of your return only if:
- It's been more than 21 days since you received your e-file acceptance notification,
- It's been more than 6 weeks since you mailed your paper return, or
- The Where's My Refund? tool directs you to contact us.
You will usually see this while the return is processing until it has been approved. Additionally this may be replaced or shown together with a message regarding the "Path Act".
Most refunds are disbursed within 21 days from the date they are accepted. However, if you claimed the EIC or Additional Child Tax Credit, the IRS will begin issuing tax refunds on these returns on February 27, 2019 per the rules of the PATH act. If this applies to you, you may not see an update until late February. For more information on the PATH act and tracking your refund, please see the TurboTax FAQs below.
