After you file
The tax year being reported is 2020. If you filed your 2020 tax return with tax data from 2019 then it is incorrect.
Once a tax return is filed it cannot be changed, canceled or retrieved.
The IRS will not be accepting or rejecting any 2020 tax return until February 12, 2020
If the tax return is rejected you can correct the return an re-file with the correct 2020 tax data.
If the tax return is accepted then you will have to wait for the IRS to complete the processing of the tax return.
You will have to amend your original tax return. An amended return, Form 1040X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS, it cannot be e-filed. The IRS will take up to 16 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.
Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.
