The IRS cannot change payment information, including bank account or mailing information. If an eligible taxpayer does not get a payment or it is less than expected, it may be claimed on the 2020 tax return as the Recovery Rebate Credit.

 

If you do not receive the stimulus payment as a check in the mail by January 15, 2021, it can be entered on the 2020 federal tax return as a tax credit on Form 1040 Line 30.  The TurboTax program will ask about stimulus payments received in the Federal Review section.

You can enter the bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit in the File section of the 2020 TurboTax program on Step 2.
