After you file
Here are your options for receiving your refund:
- Direct deposit your refund into your checking, savings, brokerage, or IRA account
- Buy U.S. Savings Bonds
- Apply your refund to next year's taxes (not very exciting, but we thought we'd mention it)
To verify what you put on your tax return, you will need to look at your tax return and see what is on line #21.
The IRS is committed to helping you get your Economic Impact Payment as soon as possible. The payments, also referred to by some as stimulus payments, are automatic for most taxpayers. No further action is needed by taxpayers who filed tax returns in 2018 and 2019 and most seniors and retirees.
