Sure...that can be a problem no matter who you are. That's why some people direct their refunds to a bank account....but of course then it helps to establish your banking at a wide-spread well known nation-wide bank.
What you could do, if you trust them, is use the form 8822 to direct the refund to a parent's address (it sends any IRS communication s to that address). Then they can send it to you. And you can re-do the 8822 4-6months later (should do it even if you already have the refund...to make totally sure the IRS knows where you've settled in).
