After you file
Correct, Pending simply means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected it yet.
After January, e-filed returns generally sit in Pending status for 48 hours or more before coming back as either Accepted or Rejected. Sometimes state returns stay in Pending for several days or even longer.
Keep calm and check back
Until your state or the IRS processes your return, you may hear there's "no record found." That actually means the return's still being processed. Just check back in a few days.
Once your return is "Accepted"(check your e-file status) you can then begin to track your refund on the IRS Where’s My Federal Refund? site.
Where’s My Refund? has a tracker that displays progress through 3 stages: (1) Return Received, (2) Refund Approved and (3) Refund Sent.
When will I get my IRS tax refund?
