After you file

Was the notice for not submitting your OH tax return--or for not paying your tax due?  It would seem odd to get  notice from the state that just says you did not file.  If you prepared a state return and owed money to OH, you had to pay it by check or money order, or by going on the state's tax website to pay.  It is not possible to pay a state tax due from a federal refund.  A common mistake is thinking that your federal refund will pay the state tax due, but it cannot.

 

Check your e-file status:

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
