Yes, you can fix anything that needs fixing if you have not filed it yet. You'd only amend if you had filed and it was accepted. See here What does it mean to "amend" a return?
If you did not start amending the return already and have not filed an original return yet, you can just go back in and make changes using these steps:
- Log into the account you filed the return in
- Click Tax Home to the left
- Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents and click Show
- Select Add a State to get back in return (not adding one, just a way to get inside return)
- Then use the categories to the left to get to the sections you need to make changes in
