Get your taxes done using TurboTax
@flight26 The IRS will not tell you who -- if anyone---claimed your child and used the child's SSN. If you try to e-file a tax return claiming that child and the e-file is rejected because of the SSN, that is your clue that the SSN has been used by someone. There is no"other source" for you to check. If in fact your return is rejected and you are the one who can claim the child then you go ahead and claim your child but file the return by mail. The IRS will process your return, and then at a later time the IRS will sort out who could legally claim the child.
