Here is the reply I received...they recognize the problem, but don't have an exact date for the fix. I'm very disappointed in their response as it seems like they could use the same fix as the regular return and it not take that long to correct. If it's not fixed before October, more than likely we'd have to paper file anyway.

We appreciate your patience while we looked into your issue. After investigating the issue, we found that we have upgraded the e-filing system this year, unfortunately, the amend e-file system hasn't been upgraded yet to support this functionality. This functionality will be added later this year. It is advised that you print and mail your amended return.
