My letter says $2,800. However, there are 2 adults and 3 children in my household… they deducted $2,800 from my expected return (I got the letter after I filed) but according to your info the actual amount *should have* been $7,000?? Or is it $1,400/dependent? (Or adult?)
It is $1,400 for each person on your 2021 tax return. So the recovery rebate credit on your 2021 federal tax return Form 1040 Line 30 should be showing $7,000 if you indicated that you did NOT receive any 3rd stimulus payment. The IRS removed $2,800 of the credit since they have records showing $2,800 was sent to you. That gives you the remaining $4,200 Recovery Rebate Credit as part of your federal tax refund.
