Get your taxes done using TurboTax
For your state or for your federal? When you say you can't file online, what happens when you try? Does it go through and come back with a rejection? Does it not go through at all? Does it tell you that you need to paper file?
If you are Married Filing Separately, do you have your spouses name and social security number on your return? If not, you would need to print and mail your return.
Do you need to attach a special statement to your return? Certain statements have to be printed and mailed.
Are you claiming dependents that someone else is claiming? If so, the only solution would be to not claim those dependents or for the other person to not claim those dependents. This would not be a TurboTax issue, this would be a duplicated Social Security Number used.
Is there something wrong with your Name, SSN or Date of Birth that is not matching Social Security Records? If so, you would be rejected for this.
Were you the victim of ID theft and need to include an IP Pin but don't have one? You can retrieve your IP PIN here
Are you trying to include your AGI, but don't have it?
Those are the most common reasons one would not be able to file online, however, if your return is being rejected, our phone reps can see the rejection reason and walk you through fixing the error if it is not one of the above reasons. If it is not a rejection and you are getting a notice saying you must print and mail, they can take a look at your screen and see why it is telling you this.
If it is a transmission error, you can try using a different computer, if you haven't already.
