Get your taxes done using TurboTax

The best way to see whether you will get a refund or owe would be to complete a tax return and enter all of your income.  We cannot tell you if you will get a refund or not with the information provided.  All of your 2018 W-2's must be entered on the same tax return.  If you received any Social Security disability then you need to enter your SSA1099.

W-2's are entered in Federal>Wages and Income

If you have a SSA1099 go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

If you still owe the IRS (you say you owe $181 ) then any refund you are getting will be offset for the amount you still owe.  You do not have to enter anything about that on your tax return; the IRS takes care of that automatically.

We do not know if your father will get a refund, as we do not know anything about his income.  If he had less than $4150 of income NOT including Social Security then you may be able to claim him. If you claim your father you get a $500 credit for other dependents.  If his only income was Social Security then he does not need to file a return, and you could claim him.

If you qualify you can file federal and state for free using Free File  (do not confuse this with the "Free Edition"--they are different).

Try Free File:

You qualify if your income was $34,000 or less, or $66,000 or less if active duty military, or if you qualify for Earned Income Credit

You need to create a different account and user ID to use Free File.  Do not try to use your "regular" online account.
