Get your taxes done using TurboTax
You will need to log back into your return and enter your 1095-A. This rejection occurs when you have health insurance through the Marketplace and attempt to file without including the 1095-A. The 1095-A does need to be included on your return even if you are included on another persons policy through the Marketplace.
If your name and social security number are reported as one that had insurance through the marketplace, you must enter the 1095-A. If someone else has the 1095-A, you will need to get a copy from them to enter on your return.
If you are not the primary policy holder, after you enter the 1095-A you can select that the policy is shared with other people, then you will be given the chance to allocate the premiums. You can choose to allocate any amount to you and the others on the policy. If the policy holder is paying the premiums you can allocate 0% to yourself if your the other person is allocating 100% to themselves. If you allocate 0% it will have no affect on your tax return. However, you will not be able to file without entering that form.
If you were not covered at all through the Marketplace, then it is possible that form 8962 is hanging in your return. If you are not covered, you can take these steps to fix it and resubmit your return.
- Click Deductions and Credits
- Scroll down to Medical and Click Show More
- Click Start or Revisit next to the ACA
- As you walk through the questions, you will be asked if you received a 1095-A. If you did NOT, click YES.
- Delete the 1095A entry.
- Go to Tax Tools>>Tools>>Delete a form then verify there is no form 8962 or 1095A showing. It should not be. If it is, click delete a form.
- You can then resubmit your return.
