Get your taxes done using TurboTax
@mahvisions I'm trying to follow your posts. I don't understand your reason #1. She gets a SSA-1099 from Social Security not a 1099R. Why are you having federal withholding taken out of it? If she only gets Social Security it is not taxable and she does not have to file except to get back the withholding. So why have withholding taken out? And you can't efile with only ss income. So you will have to enter some taxable income like make up a fake 1099-INT for $1 so you can efile.
If she files a return or doesn't file one it will not affect your return at all. You always can claim her as a dependent on your return. You never report her ss or SSDI on your return.
