Just so you know----when you claim a parent as your dependent, all you "get" is the $500 credit for other dependents for your own tax return. Sometimes people expect more than that-----the days of getting a personal exemption for claiming a parent ended with the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond. So consider carefully if claiming your parent will affect her eligibility to receive other benefits. And.....she will not be eligible to get any possible future federal stimulus checks since dependents are not eligible for stimulus money. Congress has not passed any new stimulus payments, and we do not know if they will, but.....
