Some guesses---the IRS pays interest on very delayed tax refunds; the IRS is issuing extra refunds for tax paid on unemployment if you filed before the tax laws changed; the IRS is issuing "plus up" refunds for people whose stimulus amounts were affected by changes in their AGI after they filed.....
