Yes, it worked for me and for others. Getting a TT block before attempting to file is something I believe I encountered that on one of my failed attempts. When I got the Form 1099-DIVs corrected (use the Forms method, not Step-by-step!) , along with the Form 1116 itself, the AMT reference went away.
I know it is a pain to do the detailed review I describe but so far most people who work their way through have ultimately been successful. Be prepared for multiple fails before you get it completely debugged.
