TurboTax Online will not allow you to prepare separate state returns and a joint federal return.
Your options:
- Create a married filing separate TurboTax Online account and prepare and mail (no e-file) Illinois. You’d have to pay again.
- Request the CD\Download version since you paid for TurboTax Premier and prepare and mail an Illinois return. This return will not match your federal joint filing, there is no e-filing. See: How do I prepare a joint federal return and separate state returns?
- File for free at MyTaxIllinois.
