If you supported your 24 year old who only had $1500 of income in 2020 you can claim him as a dependent and you get the $500 credit for other dependents for claiming him. You do not receive a stimulus check for claiming him. Parents only get stimulus checks for kids under the age of 17.
(Note---if he had less than $4300 of income in 2020 you can claim him---but if he received unemployment ---that income "counts.")
