Reporting more than $5000 of mutual funds donated as noncash charitable contributions on IRS Form 8283
I made a noncash charitable contribution of more than $5000 in index mutual funds in 2020 to a Vanguard Charitable donor advised fund or DAF. On the Charitable Donations section of TurboTax Deluxe 2020, the closest options I could find for "mutual funds" on the pull-down menu were:
- "stocks" (no option for "mutual funds"),
- "publicly traded stock" (for a Vanguard brokerage index mutual fund that is listed in the business section of newspapers) and
- "average share price" (no option for "net asset value (NAV)")
Is selecting these "stock-based" options for mutual funds the only way to report donated mutual fund for IRS Form 8283 in TurboTax -- or is there another way?
Thank you.
