If you file a tax return then just file it as you normally would.  If the other party files before you, claiming you as a dependent, then you will have to print and mail your tax return.

Within a year the IRS will send you and the other party a notice requesting you amend the tax return if it was filed incorrectly for the dependent.  If no one amends their return the IRS will send another letter requesting proof that the dependent could be entered on the tax return.  The losing party has to pay back any tax refund due to the dependent being incorrectly claimed plus penalties and interest.
