No a 1099 is not the same as a W-2.   You can click that you do not have a W-2 and move on to enter the 1099 elsewhere in the income screens.  But what kind of 1099 do you have?  There are over a dozen kinds.   We need to know what you are trying to enter.   Is it a SSA10999 from Social Security?  a 1099R from a pension?   A1099DIV?  a 1099INT?  a 1099B?  etc.etc etc.  Or a 1099NEC for self-employment income?
