Waiting to file your state return has no effect on receiving your federal refund. Do be aware that you will have to go back into your account yourself and take the steps to finish and e-file your state return.
If you have e-filed your federal return it is just sitting on a server in pending for now. The IRS will not be accepting/rejecting 2020 returns until at least the end of January. Do not try to make any changes to your return.
