Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Not sure what the problem is--you have not explained much. But TurboTax does not file your tax return for you. YOU have to file it yourself. You e-file by going all the way through the FILE section and clicking a big orange button that says "Transmit my returns now." If you did not do that, then your tax return was not e-filed.
After you e-file you have to watch your emails.
When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
If your e-file was rejected then you have to follow up and fix it and re-file, or print sign and mail it. TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you. If you choose to file by mail, you have to print and take it to a mailbox yourself.
It is now too late to e-file a 2019 return. E-filing is closed for 2019 returns. The only way to file a 2019 return now is to print, sign and mail it in.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline. If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.
