Get your taxes done using TurboTax

@ticejill73 Sorry but you have posted your question to a VERY old thread--it is likely several years old, and has nothing to do with your issue.  When the old user forum changed from Answer Xchange to Real Money Talk some old answers came over with 2019 dates.

You say that you filed a joint return and are supposed to get a refund of $3200.  But the IRS says you are not getting that refund.  How did you get that information from the IRS?  Did they send you a letter?  Did you see something about it on the IRS refund site?  Did you owe child support or back taxes?

$320 sounds really high for TurboTax fees even if you used TurboTax Live--the most expensive online software.  The MOST expensive online version would be Live Self-Employed at $200, plus $55 for a state return.  So did you add some other features or prepare more than one state return? If you chose "refund processing" to have the fees deducted from your federal refund there was also a $39.99 ($44.99 in CA) fee to have the third party bank process the refund and send the rest to you.

How can I see my TurboTax  fees?

But if you chose to have TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, you AGREED that if your refund took too long or if the refund was offset for some reason, TurboTax could take the money out of your bank account.  They would have sent several emails before they tried to take out the money--and you could call to talk to them about it.

TURBOTAX TOOK MONEY OUT OF MY BANK ACCOUNT

Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund?  Is your refund taking an unusually long time to arrive?  Or was your refund seized to pay a debt you owed? if so, you signed an agreement that says TT can withdraw its fees from your account.  TurboTax would have sent several emails to you before they took the money out of your account.

" I thought that if you were not getting refund you didn't have to pay anyway! "  Why would you think that?  Users who use paid versions of the software still have to pay for using it whether there is a tax refund or not--you have to pay for using the software even if you end up owing the IRS.    Your TurboTax fees are not based on the result of the return you prepare--they are based on which product(s) you use.

Tell us more about what the IRS is saying---maybe we can offer some help if we understand what they said to you.
