On the phone call, someone told me if I have filed an extension I use the TurboTax amend software, I have access to in my account.
I have downloaded the TurboTax amend for 2018 and I am getting the same forms to be mailed as that I am getting from 2019 online TurboTax.
Does not this mean buying the Turbotax will generate the same forms for 2018?
Filing the 2018 extension does not mean that you can amend the 2018 tax return. As I said the IRS has not received your 2018 tax return if all you did was file a 2018 extension request.
The 2018 desktop software from the prior year website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/ will Only have the 2018 tax forms, schedules and worksheets. The instructions in the 2018 software only apply to tax year 2018.
