Get your taxes done using TurboTax
It depends. At this point, there is nothing that you can do. If you are entitled to the stimulus payment, it will be delayed.
In order for you to file independently, the person who claimed you as a dependent must file an amended return. For their use, click the link for instructions: How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed.
Since your social security number has been filed, you must mail in, or paper file your return.
However, the IRS announced April 14, 2020 that they are not processing any more paper filed returns until the stimulus checks have been issued. See IRS urges taxpayers to use electronic options; outlines online assistance.
Check 2019 Publication 501 Dependents, Standard Deduction, and Filing Information on page 4 for the very basics and page 11 (the chart is quickly readable) to determine if you are or are not qualified to be a dependent as a qualifying child or as a qualifying relative.
If you truly are not a dependent and would not have qualified to be claimed as a dependent, whether or not you were claimed does not matter, then file indicating that you are not dependent and no one could claim you. If you are eligible, then you will eventually get a stimulus check. However, it may not be done until the 2020 Tax Year filing, which will be due April 15, 2021.
