Thank you for your quick and detailed response. Yes, the reason why I put jointly on my W-4 was because I'd heard there were so many benefits to it. Sadly, because my husband worked in a foreign country (jan-sep) before coming to the US on a spousal visa in October, we are worried that he may have to file separately.
