TT software (downloaded version at least) asks up front if someone has passed and when. So if as you say there is a definite reason one cannot efile if a spouse passes, then TT should alert the user not to even try to efile (as you say, it will be rejected because a spouse has passed). By not telling the user this, the user can waste hour(s) trying to figure out the reason why efiling fails.
Thanks for all your replies. I see your point, but I really want you to see mine, which is improving UX. This is a frustrating User Experience at a painful time in someone's life. TT needs to know and fix this issue with their software, and this is clearly a known issue.
