I had the same problem - TT would tell me it wouldn't e-file my Fed and NY State returns until I did an update, tried to do the update but TT effectively said all updates were already in, tried to re-transmit and TT again said I needed to do an update first - an endless loop. I tried clearing cache but no diff. I then pended the NY State (i.e.: e-file later) and then when I tried to re-transmit the Fed file alone it worked! Still couldn't e-file the NY State return though. Spent about 3 hours between speaking with TT support and awaiting callbacks. " and from there I also clicked out to an embedded link to get instructions to run Disk Cleanup. I ran the standard cleanup then ran the System File cleanup. I then ran TT again and this time it auto-updated the NY State forms (took a while to update tho') but then I reran the e-file for the NY State return and it worked! Looks like running Disk Cleanup and System File cleanup was the key. I should mention also that while all of this was going on, I had my anti-virus turned off to minimize that possible barrier and I also turned wifi off for all devices except the wireless WIN10 laptop that I was using to run TT.
