My Vanguard 1099-DIV form included a figure in Box 5 (199A dividends). When I entered this information into Turbotax I got a pop-up window asking questions about this dividend, such as "a portion of dividends is from US Gov't interest". There was no information on the form that helped me answer these questions. So I called Vanguard to ask about this and was told that they could provide no further information. My question is - how do I go about answering Turbotax questions if the source of the income can't provide any additional information? I'm sure I can't be the only person having this issue. If Vanguard has no other information about the dividend, why is Turbotax asking?
