A 2019 tax return cannot be filed until after January 1, 2020. The IRS will not be accepting any type of 2019 tax returns until late January 2020. The IRS has yet to approve and publish many tax forms, schedules and instructions for 2019, so there is no need to be in a hurry to file a 2019 tax return.
The TurboTax online editions for tax year 2019 will not be available until sometime in December 2019.
