You are posting from online Self-Employed, so somehow instead of using the CD you installed, you are logging in to an online account by mistake. When you use desktop software, you do not log in--you just open up the program from your own computer. If you do that correctly, you will be able to prepare and file your 2016 return. A 2016 return must be printed, signed and mailed. It cannot be e-filed.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
