No, your dad is mistaken.  As long as you said on your return that you can be claimed as their dependent, your parents get the $4050 personal exemption for you.  Did you say that you can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return when you answered questions in Personal Info?  It is only if you "claimed yourself" that you would create a problem.  (Then your dad does have a reason to freak out)  If you claimed yourself, come back here for further help.
