Get your taxes done using TurboTax

You would qualify for FREEDOM Edition if your AGI is $33,000 or less.   It goes by AGI, not the amount of self-employed income.   For some people AGI also includes other income and adjustments; it's not necessarily just earned income.

However, you don't appear to be using the FREEDOM Edition.  You appear to be using the Self-Employed Edition, at least that is what is displayed next to your screen name above.

Did you try to use the FREEDOM Edition, and didn't create a new account (User ID) there?  If so, it would put you right back in regular Online TurboTax instead.    You have to create a new account there.

If you DID create a new account there and started using it, did you get a message that your AGI was too high, and it told you to use Self-Employed Edition instead?

Here's the info on Freedom Edition, and the last link below is the proper way to switch:

The FREEDOM Edition (not to be confused with the regular Free Edition) has free Federal preparation AND free State preparation. There is no efiling fee.

The Freedom Edition is more fully-featured than the regular Free Edition.  The Freedom Edition can prepare Schedule A, C, D, E, F and enter K-1 that the Free Edition cannot.  It will prepare a Form 1040 return, or 1040A or 1040EZ.

For Freedom Edition a user needs to meet only ONE of these qualifications:

  •  AGI of $33,000 or less
  •  or active duty military (including Reservists and National Guard) with a military-issued W-2 and a 2017 AGI of $66,000 or less
  •  or eligible for the Earned Income Credit (EIC aka EITC).

The FREEDOM Edition is located at the following site:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/taxfreedom

Here's how to switch and start over in Freedom Edition.   It requires a new account (new User ID) at the Freedom website.

Before going there, you should clean up your browser by deleting your browser Internet cache and any Intuit-related cookies, so it won't put you back in Online TurboTax.  And is mentioned in that FAQ, do NOT use the same User ID that you used at regular Online TurboTax; set up a new account.
